Education and Career Development

Ms. Frazier-Lyde is an accomplished athlete. After excelling in basketball, lacrosse, hockey and softball, she accepted a four-year athletic scholarship to American University in Washington, D.C. for women’s basketball. At American, Frazier-Lyde was Team Captain and Most Valuable Player. She scored over 1,000 points in her collegiate basketball career playing power forward and guard and is rated 7th in scoring and 5th in steals on the American University "All Time Women’s Basketball Charts." In 2005, she was inducted into the American University’s Sports Hall of Fame. In addition to Justice and Jujitsu, Frazier-Lyde studied fine arts and world affairs at American University. She enjoys speaking Spanish and French.
Ms. Frazier-Lyde is a champion boxer and motivational speaker. She advocated boxing as a boxing columnist and is among ESPN’s "Surprise Fighters." After starting boxing at age 38, in February 2000, Frazier-Lyde trail blazed to a World Light Heavyweight Boxing Championship, knocking out her opponent in the 5th round in December 2001. In July 2002, she won an Intercontinental Super Middleweight Championship by 3rd round knockout. In December 2002, she won two (2) more Super Middleweight World Championships. On Sept 10, 2004, Frazier-Lyde won her 5th title winning a World Heavyweight Championship and is the 1st woman to hold World Championship Titles in 3 different weight classes. Frazier-Lyde and father, Former World Heavyweight Champion Joe Frazier are the first father and daughter in history to win World Boxing Championship Titles. Former World Champion Muhammad Ali gave Jacqui the name Sister Smoke.
Jacquelyn Frazier-Lyde, Esq. is a True Champion of Justice. On May 15, 2007, Frazier-Lyde won the nomination for Municipal Court Judge of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the General Election in November 2007. On June 8, 2007 she was appointed Ambassador for Peace by Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, Founder and Co-Founder of the Universal Peace Federation and Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace.
Frazier-Lyde also serves on the Advisory Board of the Julimani Foundation which educates to prevent drunk driving.
Frazier-Lyde and husband of 18 years, Peter Lyde have three children, Peter Jr. (22), Sable (14) and John-Joseph (13). In addition to receiving the Most Outstanding Female Boxer award, she has received numerous honors as a public speaker, attorney, educator and community activist. Counseling and coaching youth is among her greatest passions.
